CaptureScroll - Full Page Screenshot privacy policy

Last updated · August 12, 2026

CaptureScroll is a local-first Chrome extension. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising, telemetry, or remote service. Screenshots and captured page data are not transmitted to Latent Builds or any third party.

The extension processes website content only after you choose a capture action. Its settings, presets, approximately 30-minute Recent data, domain-only Troubleshooting records, and temporary image data stay in your browser profile.

Data processed on your device

Because a screenshot can contain whatever is visible on the page, it may include personal or sensitive information that you choose to capture. CaptureScroll processes that content locally and does not send it to Latent Builds or a third party.

CaptureScroll does not run automatically on every page and does not monitor browsing outside a capture or page-selection action you initiate.

  • The visible pixels and page content needed to create the screenshot you request.
  • The page URL, title, domain, dimensions, capture mode, filename, and capture time.
  • Page measurements, selected-element or scroll-area selectors, and temporary hide selectors needed to perform a capture.
  • Capture settings, page-specific presets, temporary Recent metadata, and domain-only Troubleshooting messages.

Local storage and retention

Use Delete recent and temporary data in CaptureScroll Settings to remove Recent entries and temporary image data. Presets and Troubleshooting have their own delete controls. Uninstalling CaptureScroll removes its Chrome local storage and IndexedDB data from the browser profile.

  • Capture settings and page-specific presets remain until you change or delete them.
  • Recent lists only captures that can still be reopened. Its page title, URL, domain, dimensions, filename, timestamp, and capture status disappear with the corresponding temporary job after approximately 30 minutes.
  • Up to 40 local Troubleshooting records can include the extension version, timestamp, level, phase, redacted message, page domain, capture mode, and job ID. They exclude page paths, query parameters, fragments, and titles and expire after seven days.
  • Temporary screenshot tiles and capture-job metadata are retained only as needed to finish or reopen a capture and expire after approximately 30 minutes.

Clipboard and downloads

These actions do not upload the screenshot. Once copied or downloaded, the image is governed by the applications, folders, or services where you choose to place it.

  • Copy Image writes the completed PNG to your system clipboard.
  • Download PNG and auto-download create a local browser download using the filename you selected.

Permissions and page access

CaptureScroll uses activeTab and scripting access only after a toolbar, popup, keyboard-command, recapture, or page-selection action. It does not request permanent access to every website. Storage keeps local settings and capture data; downloads and clipboardWrite provide the output actions you select; offscreen allows local stitching and output processing without a visible preview tab; and alarms removes expired temporary capture data, Recent entries, and Troubleshooting records.

Protected browser pages, extension pages, the Chrome Web Store, and other restricted surfaces are unsupported.

Network access and third parties

CaptureScroll does not transmit captured content, page metadata, settings, Troubleshooting records, or usage data to Latent Builds or a third party. It contains no analytics SDK, advertising network, remote executable code, account system, or cloud-processing service.

The privacy-policy link opens this Latent Builds website only when you choose it. Normal web-server logs for that visit are covered by the Latent Builds website privacy policy; the extension does not attach captured page data to the request.

Limited Use

CaptureScroll uses data accessed through Chrome APIs only to provide the screenshot, local configuration, output, redacted local troubleshooting, and temporary recovery features you invoke. Data is not sold, used for advertising or profiling, transferred for unrelated purposes, used for credit or lending decisions, or made available for human review.

CaptureScroll’s use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
