Sender Counter for Gmail™ privacy policy
Sender Counter for Gmail™ is a Chrome extension provided by Latent Builds. It processes sender names, email addresses, unread state, stable Gmail row identifiers, and visible Gmail list metadata locally to provide its counter and reporting features.
Gmail information and extension usage data are not transmitted. The current tab’s saved session record is deleted when that Gmail tab closes, when you confirm Reset, or when Chrome clears extension session storage.
Information processed
The extension does not read message bodies or attachments. Rows without a stable Gmail identifier are skipped rather than retaining subject or snippet text as a fallback identifier.
- Sender display names and sender email addresses from visible conversation rows.
- The visible read or unread state of each conversation row.
- Stable Gmail message, thread, or row identifiers used to avoid counting the same visible conversation more than once.
- Visible row text and Gmail pagination state, processed transiently only to detect when an automated page scan has loaded the next visible page.
- Selected senders, report filter settings, and panel visibility.
How information is used
- Count visible Gmail conversations by sender and unread state.
- Filter and sort the sender report.
- Avoid double-counting conversation rows.
- Copy a sender report as CSV.
- Build Gmail from: search clauses from selected senders.
- Navigate Gmail’s visible pagination control after you start an automated scan.
Storage and retention
Counts, stable row identifiers, selections, and panel preferences are stored in extension-owned chrome.storage.session and isolated by Gmail tab. This information can survive a Gmail page reload in the same tab.
The session record is removed when the Gmail tab closes or you confirm Reset. Chrome also clears chrome.storage.session when the browser restarts or the extension is disabled, reloaded, updated, or removed.
The optional Show floating button in Gmail preference is stored in chrome.storage.local until you change it or remove the extension. A separate true-or-false first-run flag is stored after a fresh installation and removed when the toolbar-popup walkthrough is completed or skipped. Neither value contains Gmail information.
Data transmission and sharing
Sender Counter for Gmail™ does not transmit Gmail information or extension usage data. It has no backend, analytics, advertising, telemetry, OAuth integration, or external network requests.
Information processed by the extension is not sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or made available to Latent Builds personnel. No human reviews the contents processed by the extension.
Permissions
- Access to https://mail.google.com/* allows the extension to read visible Gmail conversation-list metadata and display its counter interface on Gmail.
- The storage permission keeps per-tab counts in extension-owned session memory and remembers the optional launcher preference locally.
- The contextMenus permission adds the Show icon in Gmail checkbox to the extension action menu.
User controls
The extension counts only while its panel is open. You can hide the panel, stop an automated scan, clear the current tab’s state with Reset, close the tab, disable the extension, or uninstall it at any time.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The extension uses information obtained from Gmail pages only to provide or improve its single, user-facing purpose. Its use of this information adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
If the extension’s information-handling practices change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the new practice takes effect. When required, the extension will provide an in-product disclosure and request consent before processing information in a materially different way.
